options available for Gaeltec ambulatory recorders Pressure
A wide range of software is available for urology and gastroenterology, both upper and
lower gastrointestinal tracts, complete with appropriate automated wave analysis
(including MMC, pressure profiles and swallow classification).
The system operates with Gaeltec and other catheter tip pressure transducers or with
perfusion systems using extra-corporal pressure transducers.
pH
Oesophageal and gastric pH can be recorded and analysed using either glass or antimony pH
electrodes.
Na+ and other ions
Software and an input amplifier is available to record sodium ion concentration from a
catheter mounted electrode.
Temperature
Catheter tip thermistors and software are available providing accuracy of 0.10C.
EMG
A wide range of preamplifiers to suit various electrodes and EMG types is available,
together with appropriate software.
Blood Gas
A pulse oximeter using a fingertip sensor can be supplied with software for heart rate and
SpO2.
Electrogastrography
EGG software is available with FFT analysis.
Migrating Motor Complex
Automated analysis of small bowel pressure waves.
Filling Volume
A load cell can be supplied, which when mounted on a stand will provide the volume of
liquid infused into the bladder or a rectal balloon catheter.
Traction Force
Oesophageal traction force can be displayed using the Gaeltec TRF-L catheter tip
transducer.
Respiration
Variation in oral/nasal temperature can be recorded using either thermistor or
thermocouple sensors.
Pain/Discomfort/Sensation
A simple, patient operated control can be used to record subjective physical sensory
levels.
Faecal Transit
Ring electrodes on a catheter can detect and display on a trace sphincter relaxation and
faecal incontinence.
Swallow Detection
Skin electrodes on chin/neck can detect EMG and display swallow events during oesophageal
monitoring.
Urine Flowmetry
Software for urine flow rate and voided volume including pressure/flow rate analysis. This
may be used with the Gaeltec VT-1 flow transducer and some other load cell type sensors.
Urine Leakage
The Exeter electronic diaper can be used to give both time and volume of moderate urine
loss during ambulatory studies.
Leakage detection by urethral conductance is available using Gaeltec urethral catheters
with specially fitted ring electrodes.
